PRINCIPAL’S CORNER
Red Ribbon Week – Our school will once again be participating in Red Ribbon Week! Red Ribbon Week will be taking place from October 25th – October 29th. At the elementary level, it is necessary for students to learn at an early age that they have choices and that they have the ability to make good choices about a healthy lifestyle. Teachers and parents should encourage conversations about any issue that would promote the cause of Red Ribbon Week (e.g. learning the importance of healthy eating habits, handling peer pressure, including everyone in games and activities, unity, and understanding the importance of good decision making). Grades 3 and 6 will both have special guest speakers join their classes from CAPS.
· Monday – Pajama Day! Wake up and make healthy choices today.
· Tuesday – Boosterthon Fun Run – Wear your Chatterton Shirt!
· Wednesday – School Spirit Day! Show your Chatterton Pride!
· Thursday – Wear Red for Red Ribbon Week!
· Friday – Happy Halloween! Wear costumes to celebrate as school community!
CAPS Presentations – In keeping with our effort to educate the whole child and keep all students safe, CAPS (Child Abuse Prevention Services) will be at Chatterton to share important information on a variety of topics over the next two weeks. Ask your child about the workshops they participated in this week!
- Grade 2 will participate in Safety Rules. This workshop will focus on what children need to do to stay safe in their surroundings.
- Grade 3 will participate in Steer Clear of Bullies. This workshop will focus on positive relationships and how to be an upstander if you see someone in need of help.
Special Halloween Notice: We are looking forward to our annual Halloween Parade that will take place on October 29th. Families of students in grades K-3 are invited to watch the parade from our front bus loop. Students in Grades K-1 will parade past the front of the building at 9AM. Students in grades 2-3 will parade past the front of the building at 9:30AM. The students will be exiting out of the Kindergarten doors and will be parading around the back of Chatterton School. All students in grades K-6 will be invited to dress in costume for the day! Grades K-3 will be marching in the parade and Grades 4-6 will be cheering on the students. Please see the letter that was sent home with more information about the parade.
